Raising a Concern

If you would like to raise a concern or express an opinion about the service that you have received please contact the NHS Lothian Complaints Team. You can do this via a number of routes, including:

  • In writing
  • By telephone
  • By email
  • Face to face

The information that you provide here is not part of the formal complaints process but can help us:

  • Show the people who use our services that we do listen and act on their feedback and comments
  • Identify service areas that require change or improvement.

We are keen to hear from patients, their families and wider members of the public who we provide healthcare services for. If you have any comments to make regarding patients who are currently in hospital, or are receiving ongoing treatment from us in the community or in their own homes, we would encourage you to speak directly to the staff who are looking after them. They should be able to help you and, wherever possible, make a positive difference to your and the patient’s experiences.

Where possible, it would be helpful if you can provide us with the following information:

  • Are you the patient (yes or no).  If no, please give your name and relationship to the patient
  • Patient’s name
  • Patient’s postal address including post code
  • Your email address, if you have one
  • Telephone number
  • Patient’s date of birth
  • Description of the concern you would like to raise
  • Location where this occurred
  • Date when this occurred

Please include your contact details (a postal address, email or telephone number) so that we can inform you of what we have done to make things better.
