NHS Lothian has Health Protection responsibilities to make arrangements for the surveillance, prevention and control of communicable diseases. However the Health Protection Department at Lothian NHS Board also relies on Healthcare Workers in the clinical settings for support in carrying out its statutory duties in relation to the surveillance, prevention and control of communicable disease.
