Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) & HIV

Sexually transmitted infections, or STIs for short, are infections passed on through sex. They affect men and women, gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people of all ages. They can cause a lot of anxiety and stress but they are all treatable and many are completely curable with antibiotics. If you think you may have an STI, it is almost always better to know sooner rather than later. This can avoid problems later on, as well as the risk of passing the infection on to someone else.

Information about different Sexually Transmitted Infections and testing (How to Get an STI Test) can be found on NHS Lothian’s Sexual Health website www.lothiansexualhealth.scot.nhs.uk.
