We are currently planning a new Royal Victoria Building on the Western General Hospital site. Information is available at the new Royal Victoria Building website.

The Royal Victoria Hospital, Edinburgh, is a 186-bed facility for care of the elderly patients. It is central to the assessment and rehabilitation hospital for older adults in the north of Edinburgh, comprising a 150-bed medical assessment and rehabilitation unit and a 36-bed psychiatry of old age unit.

Within the medical unit there are two acute assessment wards, two trauma wards specialising in falls and orthopaedic rehabilitation, and a stroke rehabilitation unit. There are three day hospitals (Medical, General Adult Psychiatry and Psychiatry of Old Age) and a busy outpatient department.

Outpatient clinics take place at the Royal Victoria Hospital and at Leith Community Treatment Centre.

The Royal Victoria Hospital is in the north-west of Edinburgh, near the Western General Hospital.

The RVH services include:

  • Dietetics
  • Occupational therapy
  • Orthopaedic assessment and rehabilitation
  • Physiotherapy
  • Podiatry
  • Speech and language therapy
  • Stroke rehabilitation.
